The Texas Organization of Rural
& Community Hospitals was founded in 1990 and is the
leading advocate and resource for member hospitals. TORCH is the
only hospital association in Texas dedicated to the needs of rural
and community hospitals. Big enough to help... Small enough to care.

| Rural Hospital
Advocacy Day 2007 was a Success >> |
|
There
were 23 different TORCH Member Hospitals represented at this
year’s Rural Hospital Advocacy Day in Austin. Collectively,
our group visited with over 33 State Representatives and Senators
as well as their staff about the most important issues that
are covered in our new Legislative Report. Our top three issues
this session included the uninsured/underinsured, the state
budget/appropriations process and the final outcome of the
Office of Rural Community Affairs sunset process.
We appreciate everyone for taking time to visit your local
officials here and at home. TORCH depends on its member hospitals
to provide a strong voice for the health care needs of rural
citizens. Together we can make a tremendous impact on the
legislative process. Thank you for your active involvement
and please let us know how we can assist you in your own endeavors
to improve health and hospital care in rural Texas.

TORCH
President/CEO from 1990-2006
John Boff passed
away on July 22nd, 2006. On that day, rural hospitals in Texas
and all across the country lost a true champion. However,
his many achievements and contributions to the profession
live on. The Texas Conference of Rural and Community Hospitals
is a major part of John’s enduring legacy and we invite
you to come and take part. Everyone knows that the TORCH Annual
Conference and Trade Show truly was John’s pride and
joy, so we would like to dedicate this year’s Annual
Meeting to John and his family.
To honor his memory,
contributions may be made to the John F. Boff Endowed Fellowship
Fund, payable to the HSC Foundation, and sent to the Texas
A&M University Health Science Center, School of Rural
Public Health, 1266 TAMU, College Station, TX, 77843.
